Women's cricket Jones guides England to victory in rain-affected Lord's encounter

AMY Jones and Sophie Ecclestone combined to set up a one-day international series decider as England beat India by eight wickets in a rain-affected game at Lord's.

Jones scored 46 not out to steer her side past a reduced target of 115 from 24 overs under the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern system after Ecclestone had taken three wickets to limit the Indians to 144 from their 29 overs before the weather truncated the game further.
The teams will meet again at Chester-le-Street tomorrow, with everything to play for following India’s win in the first instalment in Southampton.
Having won the toss and put the tourists in after a delayed start which resulted in the match being reduced to 29 overs a side, Ecclestone was the key to England restricting them to 143-8 as she cut through the middle order with 3-27.
