Vehicle-dwellers Council unveils first of new sites

THE first new 'meanwhile site' - a plot of land with temporary pitches where people residing in vehicles can live for a weekly fee has been unveiled by Bristol City Council.

The new site, in Lockleaze, has 14 pitches which give people living there access to water, toilets and waste facilities.

Councillor Barry Parsons, chair of the homes and housing delivery committee, said: "I am delighted that we are opening this new site, which will have a real positive impact on people's lives. Meanwhile sites offer a real opportunity for people to move away from the kerbside and live somewhere with some additional safety and security, as well as basic amenities that everyone should have access to.
