Just one night by the water

ESTEL FARELL ROIG loved her 24-hour break just an hour's drive from her Bristol home

AM a big fan of a night away - the magical effect of just getting away for 24 hours can have on you - and there is something about being by the water that makes it even more special.

As I continue to explore the South West, I recently went to stay to De Vere Cotswold Water Park in South Cerney - which owns another site on the outskirts of Bristol, De Vere Tortworth Court.

Not having been to the Cotswolds that much, I was excited to visit this other site, which was about an hour's drive from my house in East Bristol.

I found the drive there straightforward and quick, which was much appreciated with a toddler on the back seat.

We were meant to start our stay by having a go at kayaking at Lake 86 Costwold Water Park Hire. The rental service has a high rating on Google (4.7 average), but we were not able to find them; it was only afterwards that we realised that I had taken the name down wrong. Guess this means we will have to come back.

Instead, we started our stay by getting the keys for our room bang on check-in time (3pm) and having a much-needed catch-up and relax in our room.

We stayed in a spacious two-bedroom apartment which had a large living room area with a small, but well-equipped kitchen. The bedrooms were also a good size, with each having its own bathroom and balcony.
