A FRIEND of mine is taking those weight-loss jabs.

- SUSAN LEE

I still have no idea why. They weren't particularly overweight - perhaps half a stone or so - they exercise regularly, don't smoke and rarely drink.

Yet, having bought the medication privately last year, they are now two stones lighter. Easy peasy.

Are they thrilled? Of course. It's been a direct route to fitting back into jeans bought five years ago.

Do they look great? Well, that's a matter of opinion. For my money, if they dropped any more weight, they'd risk looking unwell.

Still, it’s their decision. As adults we can all decide exactly what we put in our bodies whether that’s weight-loss medication or a giant cheeseburger with extra fries.

That's not the case with children, though. While adults can reasonably be expected to take responsibility for their own life choices the same is not true of our kids.
