Funeral 'Beautiful send-off' as police officer laid to rest

HUNDREDS of mourners gathered for the funeral of a young police constable who died after he vanished on a night out in Bristol.

PC Rehaan Akhtar, 28, had been serving for South Wales Police at the time of his tragic death.

On Friday, police officers, friends, and family members gathered at Swansea Mosque and Islamic Centre for Janazah Prayer before travelling to Llanelli District Cemetery for the interment, where the Imam offered final prayers.

Mourners gathered at the cemetery in moving scenes to pay tribute to the "greatly respected" officer.

PC 8650 Akhtar began working as a PCSO for South Wales Police in Cardiff in October 2021.

He subsequently trained as a police officer before joining the team in Swansea as a police constable in September 2023.
