Football Roberts makes Reading move in bid for more game-time

City have confirmed that Haydon Roberts has departed Ashton Gate on a permanent basis, with the defender completing a January move to League One side Reading.Roberts joined the Robins on a free transfer in the summer of 2023 after his contract with Brighton and Hove Albion came to an end. During his time with the Seagulls, the 23-year-old enjoyed loan spells with both Rochdale and Derby County before trading the south coast for south Bristol.

The versatile defender made his debut for the Robins under the management of Nigel Pearson in a Carabao Cup win over Oxford United - who were then coached by Liam Manning - at Ashton Gate. In his first half-season as a City player, Roberts’ minutes were limited as he started just two league matches between August and February.
