MASTERPLAN AIMS TO RESTORE OUR COUNTRYSIDE

THE Essex Local Nature Recovery Strategy (LNRS) has been launched - a first-of-its-kind masterplan designed to boost nature recovery across the county.

This new initiative aims to help Essex communities work in bigger, better and more connected ways to restore the county's countryside, create more homes for wildlife and boost the natural environment for future generations.

Across Essex, nature has been in decline for decades, but now there is a clear, collaborative plan to change that.

The Essex LNRS is a local version of a national scheme to tackle the biodiversity crisis.

Developed over two years with farmers, landowners, community groups and environmental organisations, it maps out the best places across Essex to protect, restore and grow natural habitats and recommends a series of actions.

The Essex LNRS details how nature can be restored across more than 130,000 hectares: the equivalent of one-third of the county. It highlights clear opportunities for habitat creation and enhancements, making it easier for everyone in Essex to take part in turning the tide for nature.
