Fundraiser surpasses £10k for Sandra after fall leaves her paralysed

A FORMER care home cook has been left paralysed from the neck down following a tragic accident just months after retiring. Sandra Adams fell down the stairs at her home in Woodhall Spa and severely damaged her spinal cord.

The 66-year-old retired earlier this year, and on the day of the accident, Saturday, May 31, had enjoyed a barbecue with her family. She remains in intensive care at the Queen's Medical Centre in Nottingham.

A statement shared by Sandra's family states: "Our beloved Sandra suffered a tragic accident that has left her paralysed from the neck down.

"It was touch and go, and she very nearly lost her life. But in true Sandra fashion, she fought her way through an emergency operation with incredible strength and determination."

They added: "Over the years, Sandra has played many roles in our lives: a loving mum, a sister, an auntie, a grandmother, and the glue that holds our family together.
