Campaigners gather to protest over windfarm cable corridor scheme

Protesters against the windfarm cable corridors they fear will tear through the Fylde countryside made their feelings clear at a gathering in St Annes town centre - and have promised more action next week.

Campaigners protesting in St Annes against plans for the Morgan and Morecambe windfarm cabling corridors

Around 30 Fylde residents gathered in St Annes Square to protest and share information with local people about the Morgan and Morecambe planning application.

They claim it will see a trench “as wide as a motorway” being dug through the area to run two cables from the offshore wind farm at Morecambe Bay to a National Grid substation at Penwortham.

The objectors fear it will mean 11 years of living on a building site and among the specific features the group highlighted were:
