National Trust 'disappointed' after plum tree is stolen

THE National Trust expressed disappointment after a 'significant' blossom tree was stolen in Birmingham.

The plum tree was planted near bus stops besides Harborne Pool in Lordswood Road as part of the Blossom Together project to create a ring of blossom trees around the city.
In 2023, two plum trees were planted and filmed on The One Show to celebrate the National Trust project.
However, disaster struck both the same year when one snapped in two and the remaining tree was mown over when grass was cut.
National Trust provided a replacement for the trees in November, but despite stakes and wire mesh, the plum tree was stolen on June 10.
