HS2 support for £1bn tram line east of city

HS2 bosses have thrown their weight behind plans for a £1 billion tram line that will start from the new Curzon Street Station and make Birmingham City’s new stadium easily accessible.

Blues chairman Tom Wagner has spent the last 12 months lobbying for support from the Government to improve transport links in east Birmingham before work begins on the £3 billion Sports Quarter.
Knighthead bought 60 acres of land just across from their existing stadium, St Andrew's, last April and have plans to build a 62,000-seater stadium, training facilities for all of Blues teams and entertainment spaces.
