72-YEAR-OLD MAN WAS ATTACKED IN STREET

A VIOLENT robber has been jailed for life after describing himself as a “risk to the public”.

Craig Holden attacked a 72-year-old man in the street and slashed his arm with a knife. The next day the 43-year-old burgled an orthodontist clinic.

When he was arrested he told police he intended to “rape and murder” the robbery victim, adding that he wanted to return to prison.

Holden, of Reddings Lane, Hall Green, admitted robbery, wounding with intent, possession of a bladed article and burglary.

He was classed as a ‘dangerous offender’ having previously committed a number of similar offences. At Birmingham Crown Court he was sentenced to life with a minimum term of six and a half years.

CCTV captured Holden target the 72-year-old man on Russell Road, Edgbaston, at around midday on June 20 last year.
