TRAGIC DEATH OF 21-YEAR-OLD WOMAN SPARKS PETITION OVER ‘UNSAFE’ AND ‘CAR CENTRIC’ AREA
OVER 2,000 residents are calling for changes to a main road through the centre of Sutton Coldfield following a woman pedestrian’s death.
The 21-year-old woman, named locally as Natasha, died when she was in collision with a car in Brassington Avenue, at the back of the Gracechurch Shopping Centre, shortly before midnight on Friday, August 22.
West Midlands Ambulance Service (WMAS) said it was called to the scene at 11.54pm. It sent two ambulances, two paramedic officers, HART (Hazardous Area Response Team) paramedics, a MERIT (Medical Emergency Response and Intervention Team) trauma doctor with a Critical Care Paramedic and the Midlands Air Ambulance Critical Care Car attended the scene.
A WMAS spokesman said: “We discovered two patients, both pedestrians. One of the patients, a woman was found to be in a critical condition.
“Ambulance staff immediately began administering advanced life support but sadly, despite their best efforts it became apparent nothing could be done to save her and she was confirmed dead at the scene.
