VICTIM DITCHED SEX OFFENDER AFTER SHE UNCOVERED HIS SECRET PAST

A BIRMINGHAM stalker who bombarded his ex-girlfriend with thousands of calls and messages after she found out he had “lied” about his past has begun a near two-year jail sentence.

Jack Makepeace pestered the woman after a Clare’s Law request she lodged with police revealed he was a convicted sex offender.

She broke off their relationship after police also warned her that a number of Makepeace’s former partners had alleged he had attacked them.

Clare’s Law - officially the Domestic Violence Disclosure Scheme - lets police forces disclose information about a partner's criminal history if they think someone may be at risk of harm.

Makepeace, 31, of Grafton Road, Shirley, admitted stalking involving serious alarm or distress between March 11 and 19. He was jailed for 20 months at Wolverhampton Crown Court.
