RESULTS are everything in football. It is the sport that always attracts the fickle finger of fate and the drama of the theatre.

Sky Blues' upturn after sacking Robins is FRANKly astonishing

Coventry City are a prime example. There is a decent chance they may be in the Premier League when it kicks off on August 16. I felt they were always going to win on Saturday after an early goal, but the goalkeeper still had to make some important saves.

Frank Lampard, 47 next month, had been without a job for 18 months when he took the Sky Blues post in November with the club 17th in the Championship.

Mark Robins had achieved so much for the club with promotion and several trips to Wembley, including penalty shoot-out heart-ache defeat in the play-off final and a wafer thin offside decision denying victory in the FA Cup semi-final with Manchester United.

But this season the RESULTS went against the long-serving Robins and chairman/owner Doug King made a change. Criticism was thrown at King in his first taste of big-time football. He was already under fire in some quarters for putting up prices!

Jack Rudoni scored both goals. Rudoni, who will be 24 next month was released by Crystal Palace when he was 11.

He started with AFC Wimbledon before joining Huddersfield. He signed for the Sky Blues in June last year. He has played 43 games in the league and scored nine goals. He has been outstanding.

Now look at what has happened at Coventry. All down to results, of course, based on the experience and skill of Frank Lampard and the correct judgement of his chairman.
