'Show-off' driver left pedestrian in a coma

A 'SHOW-OFF' speeding driver who left a man in a coma has been given a suspended jail sentence.

NHS worker Myron Wallace mowed down 29-year-old Michael Bird near H Suite in Edgbaston causing him 'catastrophic' injuries.

Wallace stopped briefly at the scene on Icknield Port Road but left after being punched through the window by the victim’s brother, Birmingham Crown Court heard.

An investigation established he had been doing between 82 to 87mph on the 30mph road around 180 metres prior to the collision on March 16 last year.

Wallace, 27, of Bloomfield Road, Tipton admitted causing serious injury by careless driving and was sentenced to ten months suspended for two years and banned from driving for five years.
