Rob was destined to lead Wolves, insists Doherty

WOLVES defender Matt Doherty has backed the appointment of new man Rob Edwards and given an insight into what he is like as a manager.

The Irish full back played both games under Edwards when the Welshman filled in as an interim manager in 2016.

Doherty has remained in close contact with Edwards since his time as a first-team coach and he told Wolves Express: "I'm very pleased for him. On a personal level, I know Rob quite well.

"I think it's a dream job for him and it's a big thing for him, considering the situation he was in [at Middlesbrough], it shows how much he wants to be here and obviously he loves the club.

"I always thought he was destined to manage Wolves. It's something that he's going to absolutely attack and just give everything. He really does love the club, and that makes a big difference.
