Pickpockets targeting New Street passengers

BIRMINGHAM New Street Station is ranked the worst for pickpocketing offences outside of London, new data has revealed.

There were 62 pickpocketing incidents at the station between January and December last year.

That is just over 40% higher than the next worst station, Leeds Railway Station, which had 37 incidents. Manchester Piccadilly station was next on the roll of shame, recording 30 incidents over the same time frame.

The British Transport Police data was released after a Freedom of Information request by the luggage storage network Bounce.com.
