Meeting halted as protesters demand councillors resign

A STAFFORDSHIRE County Council assembly was thrown into disarray when anti-racism campaigners launched a protest against the ruling Reform UK group.

The full council gathering was abruptly halted when members of the Stafford Campaign Against Racism and Fascism began to chant from the public gallery. The protesters insisted they wouldn't depart until Reform councillors, accused of posting racist remarks on social media, stepped down.

Consequently, Thursday morning's meeting was adjourned and police were called to escort the demonstrators out. After a 40-minute wait, officers arrived and, following a brief discussion, the protesters agreed to leave the chamber, allowing the meeting to continue.
