STEM CELL DONOR IS FOUND FOR TEENAGER IN NEED

A MIDLAND teenager has received the best early Christmas present after a major update in his health battle.

Leo Sproson, 16, had been diagnosed with leukaemia and was searching the UK for a stem cell donor to be given a second chance at life.

And on Tuesday, he was given the news that a match had been found, with an anonymous person who signed up to the UK donor register.

It means Leo, from Bromsgrove, can be admitted to begin preparation for his potentially lifesaving transplant in 2026.

His mum, Jenna, said: "We have been blessed with fantastic news before Christmas.

"Not only were we told last week that Leo had achieved remission but we have now also been told that Leo has a stem cell donor match.

"We are so incredibly thankful for everyone who is on, or has registered with the blood cancer charity DKMS to join the stem cell register - you are literally saving lives."
