Star duo tying up loan deals

ELL RAISER FOR VILLA!

VILLA were last night hopeful of agreeing a loan deal for Harvey Elliott, which will likely also include an obligation to buy.

The 22-year-old midfielder was made available for transfer earlier this summer, as Liverpool strengthened their attacking options under Arne Slot, and was undergoing a medical.

Elliott started just two Premier League games last season, making a total of 18 appearances for the champions.

He joined the Reds from Fulham in the summer of 2019, winning six trophies and making 147 appearances across all competitions.

Earlier this summer, Bundesliga side RB Leipzig expressed interest in signing Elliott but were told they would need to pay over £40 million with a buyback clause, or £50 million without one.

The Birmingham Mail understands Liverpool are now looking to secure an obligation to buy worth at least £35 million next summer.

Villa were also expected to complete a loan deal for Jadon Sancho from Manchester United, further boosting their attacking depth. He was also undergoing a medical.
