'Crackhead thief' spared prison after B&M spree

A SHOPLIFTER who raided B&M shops in Solihull more than 30 times said 'thank you' to a judge after being spared jail.

Jamie Lattimer described himself as a 'common crackhead thief' after a £5,000 stealing spree.

The 35-year-old, from Stratford Road, Birmingham, who also targeted Aldi twice, admitted 33 charges of shoplifting in 2022, but then went on the run for two years.

He has spent time in custody on remand since his re-arrest in December, but is now due to be released after receiving a community order.

In an unusual move, Recorder Luke Blackburn had a conversation with Lattimer while he was in the dock at Birmingham Crown Court.
