Couple who sub-let their council house sentenced

A COUPLE who illegally sublet a Solihull Council property while living 130 miles away in Essex have been sentenced.

Lema Azizi, 36, rented out the property on Winchcombe Road, Lyndon, in breach of her tenancy agreement, which started in March 2017.

Ahmed Jamshaidi, 34, aided in the offence and received payments of nearly £13,500 from two individuals who rented the property, making a profit of close to £3,000.

All the time, the couple were living in Woolmer Green, Basildon in Essex.

The deception was uncovered after routine checks were carried out by the council's fraud investigators following separate Right to Buy and joint tenancy applications against the property.
