Councillor quits in fourth Tory party defection

ANOTHER councillor has quit the ruling Conservative group at Solihull council to join a newly formed group.

Cllr Alan Feeney, who represents the Castle Bromwich ward on the authority, has resigned from the Tory group to become the fourth member of the new breakaway Solihull Independents group.

Prior to being elected to Solihull’s authority in 2022, Cllr Feeney had served as a councillor for a term at Worcester City Council and then as vice chairman of Castle Bromwich Parish Council always as a Conservative councillor.

The councillor was approached for comment on his move and said his decision was “not as clear cut as some may think”.
