MHWC VISITS DURING STRIKE HALTED AS BOSS PLANS 'FULL REVIEW'

- STAFF REPORTER

City's popular mobile rubbish lorry service is binned for a week

BIRMINGHAM'S enormously popular mobile bin lorry service has been paused for a week.

The Mobile Household Waste Centre (MHWC) trucks were sent to different wards across the city daily and were heavily used by beleaguered residents to dispose of their mounting rubbish during the ongoing bins strike.

In the last fortnight, the service was cut from two locations per day to one, with one team re-deployed to collect bagged waste and fly-tipping from the city streets.

Bins boss Cllr Majid Mahmood revealed the council was halting MHWC visits in Birmingham until next Monday.

He said: "The MHWCs will be deployed as part of wider operations focusing on the removal of bagged waste and bulky items.
