YOU should add one more to the two certainties in life of death and taxes and that is football managers getting the sack.

ANGE-uish as clubs’ impatience increases managerial sack race

Sacked Nottingham Forest manager Ange Postecoglou and (right) flying Sky Blues boss Frank Lampard

It remains crackers! All down to results of course.

Eighteen minutes after Nottingham Forest's 2-0 home defeat to Chelsea on Saturday, the Forest manager Ange Postecoglou was sacked.

He had been their head coach for just 40 days. It is the shortest in Premier League history. Next was Les Reed, who was Charlton Athletic’s manager for 41 days.

Postecoglou left Forest with one point from his eight Premier League games and one place above the relegation zone. The 60-year-old Australian, sacked by Tottenham Hotspur in June, had lost to Swansea in the Carabao Cup, drawn with Real Betis and then lost to Midtjylland in the Europa League.

Ironically, Postecoglou succeeded Nuno Espirito Santo at Forest who in turn had followed him into the Tottenham job. Another of football’s oddities!

Santo left Forest in September as did Graham Potter from West Ham.

In the EFL already gone this season... Derek Adams sacked at Morecombe; Ruben Selles at Sheffield United; Mike Dodds at Wycombe Wanderers; Michael Flynn at Cheltenham Town; Steve Bruce at Blackpool; Matt Bloomfield at Luton; and Paulo Pezzolano at Watford.

The National League have binned a few too including Matt Taylor at Solihull Moors.

Some clubs have been through several managers in a short time but none more than Watford who have now had 12 different managers over the last six years.
