MP comes to the aid of bid to save lives

Bath's MP swapped Westminster for wax and fake blood as she backed a campaign aiming to boost lifesaving first aid skills across the UK.

Wera Hobhouse showed her support for St John Ambulance’s Save a Life September campaign by joining in with a hands-on demonstration at a community event.

The month-long initiative has aimed to train 300,000 people in vital skills like CPR, defibrillator use and treating choking or bleeding.

St John Ambulance volunteers have been running free sessions in public spaces including parks and community centres throughout September.

Wera met volunteers from the St John Ambulance B&NES Network during the Royal United Hospital's Community Day, where cadets demonstrated “casualty simulation” techniques using makeup and wax to create realistic-looking injuries.
