Waltz defends Gaza peace plan
Bangkok Post
|November 22, 2025
The ceasefire between Israel and Hamas is holding even if the situation remains fragile, US Ambassador to the United Nations Mike Waltz said in defence of a US-backed peace plan amid continued violence in Gaza.
-
Waltz: 'Progress has been made'
“So far, it’s fragile, it’s difficult,” he said yesterday in an interview with Stephanie Flanders, Bloomberg's head of economics and government, at the New Economy Forum in Singapore. “The ceasefire is holding and hostages walked out alive and on top of that, we're receiving the remains, literally week by week”
The United Nations Security Council on Tuesday approved a resolution supporting President Donald Trump's Gaza peace plan. Mr Waltz said the US argument to the UN was “everyone can find flaws in this plan’ but no one wants a return to war.
