TrueMoney targets Thai tourists' spending abroad

TrueMoney, a leading regional e-payment and financial services provider, has launched a travel service category on its platform to cash in on the growth of outbound travel by Thais.

The move follows 45% growth in its overseas payment transactions last year, said Tanarat Thuvasujirake, commercial director at TrueMoney.

Outbound travel among Thai consumers continues to expand in 2026 despite ongoing economic volatility, reflecting a clear and sustained recovery in travel demand. Popular destinations remain concentrated in Asia, particularly China, Japan and South Korea.

He said the 45% growth in overseas transactions over the past year signals that travel and digital payments are becoming increasingly intertwined, particularly in China, which accounts for 82% of True Money usage, while other markets are experiencing rapid expansion.

TrueMoney plans to leverage its strength in cross-border payments to evolve into a travel companion by consolidating all travel features and services on its platform into a single travel category.
