Saudi tops list of 7 priority markets

The Tourism and Sports Ministry is stepping up efforts to grow seven priority markets, particularly Saudi Arabia, which is showing strong growth, ahead of a planned meeting with Saudi tourism officials in the coming months.
The ministry also aims to restore the Chinese market to near 2019 levels, as Thailand expects over 1,000 new chartered flights from China, Macau and Taiwan through mid-2026.
Tourism Minister Atthakorn Sirilatthayakorn said Thailand will cooperate with Saudi Arabia on tourism, banking on the country’s strong growth potential.
Mr Atthakorn said Saudi Arabia’s government wants Thailand to support talent and training in the field of hospitality management, as the country is well-known for world-class hospitality.
The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) will soon open a new overseas office in Riyadh.
According to the ministry, Thailand welcomed 228,030 tourists from Saudi Arabia in 2024, a 28% increase year-on-year.
