Task force to counter Cambodia’s moves

Thailand is a strong and united country and will not tolerate maltreatment, accusations and threats to its sovereignty, Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra declared yesterday as territorial disputes with Cambodia dragged on.

She also criticised Cambodia for sending messages using social media instead of through official channels, saying that social media posts were outside official frameworks and caused chaos and misunderstanding.

She was speaking after meeting with senior security officials on the result of the Thailand-Cambodia Joint Boundary Commission (JBC) talks over the weekend.

Her strong comments followed reports that Cambodia's Senate President Hun Sen had threatened to close all border crossings with Thailand to block the entry of Thai goods unless Bangkok restored normal border opening hours within 24 hours.
