New state credit scoring set to cut rates

The Finance Ministry plans to launch Ari Score, a new credit scoring system for the public expected to help individuals gain greater access to loans at lower interest rates.

According to a ministry source who requested anonymity, the agency plans to roll out a credit scoring system soon tailored for retail borrowers without bank statements, unlike salaried employees.

The National Credit Bureau (NCB) is expected to manage Ari Score in parallel with its oversight of traditional credit scores.

According to the source, Ari Score’s credit data will come from the nearly completed Data Lake, which is being developed by the ministry.

The system uses alternative credit data to assess the credit scores of individuals who may lack borrowing records or bank statements. Such data could include payments of electricity, water, mobile phone and internet bills.
