New BoT chief named as Vitai

Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Pichai Chunhavajira has expressed confidence in being able to cooperate with newly appointed Bank of Thailand (BoT) governor Vitai Ratanakorn, emphasising the need for close coordination between fiscal and monetary policies as the nation faces mounting economic challenges.

The Finance Ministry and the BoT have long maintained a collaborative relationship, frequently exchanging views and information to ensure policy responses remain timely and effective, said Mr Pichai.

He said he is confident that regardless of who is appointed governor, the working relationship would remain productive and professional, the minister said.

"The way we work together will remain the same. What's important is mutual understanding of both fiscal and monetary policy perspectives," Mr Pichai said.

"I had no issues working with the outgoing governor, Sethaput Suthiwartnarueput, and I expect the same going forward."
