All capital to embrace low-emission steps

The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) plans to expand its Low Emission Zone (LEZ) measures across all 50 districts by 2026 to tackle hazardous PM2.5 air pollution.

At a recent meeting chaired by Pornprom Vikitsreth, an adviser to Bangkok governor Chadchart Sittipunt and the vice chairman of the LEZ steering committee, city officials and key stakeholders, including representatives from the Department of Environment, Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Office, Traffic and Transportation Office and Public Works Department, gathered to discuss strategies for strengthening LEZ enforcement.

Emphasising that PM2.5 fine particulate matter remains a pressing health risk for Bangkok residents, Mr Pornprom confirmed that expanding LEZ measures from 22 districts to all 50 districts by 2026 is a priority.
