Leaders accelerate border de-escalation
Bangkok Post
|October 29, 2025
Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul has confirmed that his bilateral meeting with Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet did not include discussions on reopening border checkpoints.
He emphasised, however, that Cambodia had already begun withdrawing heavy weaponry on Sunday when the bilateral declaration was signed.
Speaking after the talks with Hun Manet on the sidelines of the 47th Asean Summit yesterday, Mr Anutin said that both sides agreed to accelerate the implementation of the joint declaration signed between the two countries in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Mr Anutin said he had urged his Cambodian counterpart not to let the declaration remain merely symbolic, but to proceed swiftly and concretely with the disarmament process.
