Greater powers for SEC mulled
The Finance Ministry is set to present the draft entertainment complex bill, which legalises casino gambling, at the cabinet meeting today.
Cabinet meetings are typically held every Tuesday, but the parliamentary session on the no confidence vote was on Tuesday this week, pushing the cabinet meeting to Thursday.
Deputy Finance Minister Julapun Amorvivat said the ministry will propose the draft bill for the cabinet's consideration. However, inclusion in the cabinet meeting agenda depends on the prime minister's authority, he said.
Mr Julapun said the project is expected to support the country's economic growth and generate higher revenue from tourism.
