Analysts favour diversified portfolio tactics for 6 months

With Thailand expected to cut interest rates 2-3 times this year, investors are advised to adopt a diversified portfolio strategy over the next 3-6 months by focusing on domestic and global fixed income and high-dividend stocks, say analysts.

In the short term, stocks that may benefit from Thai ESG Extra Fund investments are also worth considering.

Pongtharin Sapayanon, head of fixed income and asset allocation at Aberdeen Investments (Thailand), said the global market remains volatile due to uncertainty surrounding US trade policies.

Despite US President Donald Trump’s temporary suspension of import tariffs on goods from more than 75 countries for 90 days and a flat rate of 10% for ongoing tariffs, more monitoring is needed, said the brokerage. Trump’s broader goal is to reduce the US trade deficit and secure improved trade agreements.

He continues to impose tariffs on Chinese imports, which could “further slow US economic growth’, noted Aberdeen.

“Given the sensitivity of global markets to news and high volatility due to tax policy uncertainty, we recommend investors stay invested,” said Mr Pongtharin. “Diversifying across regions and asset classes can help reduce risk and cushion market swings.”
