Neighbourhood watch aims to expand

Green Point Neighbourhood Watch aims to increase its presence on the ground by expanding its membership, which can patrol and contribute to financing safety equipment.
During its annual general meeting at Reddam House Atlantic Seaboard on Wednesday, February 25, executive member Stephen Jefferies said that during patrols, there were never more than three people on the lookout to keep residents safe.
Chairman Graham Louw confirmed that they have seven neighbourhood watch members who have volunteered to do patrols. "There are usually two or three of us on each patrol," he said. Mr Jefferies asked those present to speak to their friends, neighbours, and to ask those who were not members to join.
"What they get from us, they don't get from the police. We are the eyes and the ears, through our WhatsApp channels, our patrols, and we work closely with SAPS, and we are part of the community policing forum," he said.
