Approval for more housing

North Lanarkshire Council's planning committee has agreed in principle to more housing being built in the Gartcosh/Glenboig community growth area.

The local authority received a planning application from Persimmon Homes, Avant Homes and the Lamont Family Planning seeking permission in principle for residential development at Heathfield Farm in Muirhead.

The applicant has already had two other developments totalling around 1000 houses at nearby plots of land and work on these is underway.

This new application could see another 400 homes constructed.
