Academy given time for improvements

An Education Scotland assessment has decided that Airdrie Academy needs "more time to make necessary improvements".

Among the secondary school's strengths noted by inspectors were "strong, positive relationships between staff and young people who feel a sense of belonging and pride in their school" and the head teacher being "well-respected across the school and local community".

Areas where improvement was found to be required included staff needing "to develop a shared understanding of high-quality planning, learning, teaching and assessment".
