NSG commandos to secure Rath Yatra

In a first, the National Security Guard (NSG) commandos will be part of the security arrangements for the upcoming 148th Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath. The NSG is part of the Ahmedabad Police's massive security plan involving over 17,000 personnel, including police officers and CAPF units.

As part of the surveillance, 70 drones will patrol the skies, while snipers and special police teams will be stationed at key terrace points across sensitive areas. The city police have also set up AI-integrated CCTV monitoring systems that could give crowd density alerts at vulnerable spots where stampedes could occur.

The cops have also installed gunshot sound detection systems at critical points to instantly identify the location and type of firearm used to enable swift police response.
