Not given flat, couple to get refund with interest

Gujarat Real Estate Regulatory Authority has delivered relief to a couple who waited a decade for possession of their booked flat, ordering Vadodara-based Om Shiv Builders to refund Rs 22.90 lakh with 18% interest within 45 days after the builder abandoned construction.

GujRERA member Dr M D Modia issued the ex parte order after the builder failed to respond to notices. The authority also cancelled the registered sale agreement and imposed Rs 10,000 costs on the builder whilst informing the Sub-Registrar's office in Bapod about the cancellation.
