Scammers targeted US-based NRIs with ‘miracle cure’ packages
City police have busted a bogus call centre operating from the 12th floor of Sakar-9 on Ashram Road.
The operation allegedly duped Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) living abroad by promising “special schemes” for various medicines. They collected advance payments in US dollars and then either sent no medicines or dispatched cheap, poor-quality products. Refunds were never issued. According to investigating officers, the accused had been running the fake call centre for the past eight months.
