AN academy has been praised by Ofsted inspectors for strengthening its curriculum but add there is still room for improvement as 'pupils do not achieve well enough'.
-
Accrington Academy on Queens Road West was visited by inspectors in March.
The school was given a 'Good' rating for the categories behaviour and attitudes and personal development, but received 'requires improvement' for quality of education, leadership and management and sixth-form provision.
A spokesperson for the academy says the school is 'incredibly proud' of their students and acknowledge and embrace the further improvement needed and they are already working to address changes that need to be made.
The report, which was published on April 29, reads: "Most pupils enjoy attending Accrington Academy.
"They are beginning to benefit from recent improvements to the school.
"For example, the school has recently revised the behaviour policy to ensure that rules are clear and understood.
"Pupils say that behaviour is better than before and they attend school regularly.
"The school has increased both the ambition in the curriculum and its expectations of all pupils."
