JUAN Martin Gonzalez proved he is another diamond to come out of the wreckage of London Irish as Saracens ended their two-match losing streak and got their Champions Cup campaign back on the road.
The Argentinian flanker scored Saracens’ first try with a muscular burst through two defenders but it was work around the field that caught the eye.
When London Irish collapsed in the summer, Gonzalez’s world was in ruins but he has found a home in North London and has eased into the side, after the World Cup, without missing a beat.
Hooker Jamie George scored two of the hosts’ eight tries but Connacht refused to chuck the towel in as they went back to Ireland with a try-scoring bonus point of their own.
But Gonzalez helped keep them at bay as Saracens tucked a win away after successive defeats to Northampton and the Bulls.
