Following a pointless Premiership Cup campaign that saw Cambridge suffer five heavy defeats with 47 tries conceded, Williams’ side are still yet to pick up a win this season after losing their first three league games.
A heartbreaking opening day 28-26 loss away at Ampthill was followed by back-to-back reverses by full-time outfits Doncaster Knights and Ealing Trailfinders, who put Cambridge to the sword by each scoring over 60 points. His side’s leaky defence will be a cause for concern but Williams insists it’s not time to hit the panic button just yet.
“We were trying to manage people’s expectations as we knew what we were coming into after winning the league last season,” Williams told The Rugby Paper: “It’s pretty clear the fulltime outfits like Ealing and Doncaster are class outfits and are well run organisations on and off the field.
