YEOVIL Town ensured Southend United will not be celebrating a glory FA Cup run under their new ownership as goals in either half from Jake Wannell and Jordan Young ended the Shrimpers hopes for another season.

Wannell set the tone for the afternoon by firing the Glovers in front inside three minutes before Young wrapped things up for Mark Cooper's men on the hour.

It proved a step too far for Kevin Maher's bravehearts, who could only name 12 first-team players plus debutant academy starlets Ronnie Blake and Beau MacDonald.

In truth, the result was rarely in doubt, despite Southend enjoying the bulk of possession in the second half and almost a dozen shots in the game.

The Yeovil defence lookedcalm and controlled as they dropped ever deeper to protect their lead.
