Four years ago, amid reinvigorated public debate about historical monuments, statues began coming down across the country.
Columbus and Confederates were at the top of the list. New monuments were also created, adding American heroes such as Harriet Tubman and Barbara Johns to the commemorative landscape.
Today, however, public opinion on the topic is still divided-and many monuments remain in limbo.
