The Rise of Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conferences
THE WEEK India
|January 11, 2026
Since its inception in 2003, the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit has stood as a beacon of India's economic ambition. Conceptualized by Shri Narendra Modi during his tenure as Chief Minister, the summit has evolved over ten editions into a premier global forum for strategic partnerships. However, the true legacy of this “Summit of Success” is now finding a new, more localized expression. To ensure that the dividends of development reach every corner of the state, the Government of Gujarat has launched the Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conferences (VGRC)—a strategic decentralization of the summit's proven model.

A New Chapter: From Global to Regional
The VGRC initiative is designed to align the aspirations of regional economies with the national and state-level visions of Viksit Bharat @2047 and Viksit Gujarat @2047. By shifting the focus from metropolitan hubs to Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities, the state aims to unlock untapped industrial potential.
The momentum began with a resounding success in North Gujarat at Mehsana in October 2025. This inaugural event set a high benchmark, hosting over 410 exhibitors and 80,000 visitors across 18,000 square meters. Building on this foundation, the upcoming conference in Kutch and Saurashtra, scheduled for January 11-12, 2026, in Rajkot, is poised to be even larger, covering 20,000 square meters with six state-of-the-art domes.

Nuclear governance: caution to confidence
Nuclear power has long occupied a singular and somewhat uneasy place in Bharat's public imagination. It has been viewed, often with pride, as proof of scientific achievement and strategic resolve, yet governed with a restraint that reflected a deeper discomfort with the diffusion of risk.

The battle of words
As young adults we certainly used abbreviations and cryptic phrases. But MC and BC did not stand for the master of ceremonies and the era before Christ. They stood for something else which, if said in full, would certainly have made our mothers make us rinse our mouths with soap. Once you have tasted soap, you would not want to taste it ever again.
