A second season of the show that uncovers family secrets starts this week.
Sonia Gray asked for a metal detector for Christmas. But, she sighs, "My husband obviously didn't think I was serious." The detector comes up in the very first investigation of the new season of My Family Mystery. Gray and her detectorist pace a lawn in the West Coast drizzle, looking for the partner of a medal at the centre of a family story. They get a hit, the shovel bites and the camera moves in. There, sitting on the upturned sod, is a medal. Just not, it turns out, the one they're looking for.
